If you have someone special in your life that loves the Lake District and you need to buy them a gift then we have some ideas for you. Please note we have NOT been paid or asked by any business mentioned to include them in this blog- these are our own personal ideas.
Whether you want to buy a classy present, a boozy one or surprise a loved one with a voucher to dine in style, relax in a spa or dive into all the adventure the Lakes has to offer, then there’s a gift idea here for you.
As the cooler months are fast approaching, it’s often the time we are asked “Are you still open?” The answer is yes!
Not all of our locations are available during the colder months. Abseiling is available all year round. We stop the longer canyoning and ghyll scrambling trips from mid October to March. We continue with Coppermines Canyon in Coniston and Stickle Ghyll in Langdale.
Stickle Ghyll in particular is an excellent choice in the Winter. We often get wet Winters and Stickle Ghyll can handle the higher water levels that brings. As you are ascending the ghyll on Stickle you are working harder and therefore keep warmer. We also provide the kit to keep you toasty!
The group in the photo came out in Winter. They all have thick wetsuits with 10 mm in total on their core. This is the main part of you that you need to keep warm. Our wetsuits all come with hoods attached so you can opt to wear them or not under the helmet. As you can see on this photo all but one have decided to wear the hoods- something to think about when picking a canyoning company in the Lake District during the colder months. The gloves offer more warmth and the buoyancy aid is purely to lock in more heat. Wetsuits socks are provided all year round.
