Canyoning is the perfect activity for water loving thrill seekers.
With this activity you’ll find yourself descending down a mountain stream. Where you’ll typically be sliding, jumping, abseiling, zip-lining and being lowered on a rope down waterfalls.
We have a variety of different locations, suitable for different ability levels.
If you love the outdoors, water and adventure then check out our Ghyll Scrambling.
You can find yourself jumping into deep pools in a mountain stream or sliding off smooth rock into clear water below. There are waterfalls to climb up and also abseil down. You may even zip-line off one!
Whichever location you choose you can guarantee beautiful scenery as they all take place in the stunning Lake District.
This activity takes place at Hodge Close Quarry in the Lake District, an impressive venue for some heart stopping abseiling experiences!
You will be descending 100-120 ft down a sheer rock face using ropes. After a full safety brief and instructions you will be raring to go.
Combine this activity with Stickle Ghyll, Coppermines Canyon or Crypt Canyon for an epic day out.
Are you a keen hiker but would like to take it up a notch and progress to scrambling?
Scrambling is ascending a rocky ridge , where the terrain is not steep enough to be classed as a rock climb.
A great bit of fun on dry land, where you will be roped up to safely complete a grade 2/3 scramble in the Coniston area of the Lake District.
Outdoor adventures are the ideal way to challenge yourself, bond with your group and create lasting memories.

We look forward to celebrating your stag/hen (or any other ‘do’) with you in a truly memorable way.
We have a wide range of outdoor activities (some of which are unique to Crags Adventures) that take place here in the Lake District. Most of our activities can be tailored to suit almost anyone from the age of 9 years old. We are aware that everyone has differing levels of fitness, ability and bravery and for this reason (when possible) we choose our locations so that the harder/scarier parts of the activity can be avoided if needs be. At the same time we work hard to ensure that no-one leaves without feeling they have been adequately challenged.
We have activities suitable for children from the age of 9 upwards, however, all persons under the age of 18 must be accompanied by their own parent or legal guardian. We work with everything from lone travellers, couples, families and small groups of friends right through to stag/hen and big corporate groups.

An almost roadside climb up a graded rock scramble.
Activities for stag and hen parties as well as corporate groups.
All of the activities we offer are physical and involve a degree of fitness (some more than others). We recommend you look at each individual activity page to see if it is suitable for you. All of our activities involve wearing a harness, so your waist cannot exceed 46 inches or the safety equipment will not fit.
This is impossible to answer without knowing you or your group personally. If you read each activity page it will hopefully help, we can also give general guidance.
A deposit is required to secure your chosen date, time and activity if you are booking more than 14 days in advance. Your deposit is non refundable or transferable. Full payment is required within 14 days
No, sorry. None of our activities are suitable for you to bring a dog.
There are no refunds/rescheduling if you miss the meet time and the session may start without you. You may be joining others, we may have a group after you etc so can’t always delay the start time. Allow plenty of time to travel around the Lake District. The traffic from Windermere especially from mid morning can be very slow with jams. Mobile reception is limited but we will have your mobile number and you will have ours on the PDF Info sheet you receive when you book.
You will lose the deposit payment if you cancel with more than 14 days notice. If you cancel within 14 days you will lose the full balance
You will receive a full refund- or you can opt to rebook. There is no pressure to do this option. If we cancel because of dangerous water conditions at a location (ghyll/canyoning) then we will try to offer an alternative if possible, which you are under no obligation to do.
We run our activities in all weather conditions if it’s safe to do so. If it’s raining and/or cold the activity will go ahead. Wrap up warm with waterproof clothing if you’re abseiling. For ghyll scrambling/canyoning we have high quality, thick canyoning specific wetsuits especially imported from Spain. We wear the same wetsuits as you – so you know you are getting excellent quality. If the rain has been heavy and persistent we may have to cancel/ swap locations if the water levels are dangerous (see question above)
